A few years ago, my friends got me this diecast model for my birthday.

The thing is: the 59 Corvette has always been my dream car. My friends knew this, mostly because I had a phase when I wouldn’t stop talking about it.

I had tried to find a model in several stores, while the 57 model is pretty easy to find, I had never found the 59 model.

One of my friends had better knowledge of diecast and R/C models, and managed to source this limited edition model, in a store in Paris (500km from here). He asked his sister, who studied there, to go get it (from the other side of the city), she then brought it the next time she came home.

The model itself is great, and really detailled, but it’s the story that makes it my favorite.

Shared to LALD. Models with stories behind them are the best, and this one looks great. Do you know who made it?

Very nice. First gen corvettes always confuse me in terms of how different they are from the rest of their lineage, but they are damn lovely.

And how different they are from each other! 1953 and 1962 could be totally different car models

That’s fitting :)

Yes, it’s an AUTOart model, they built 6000 of those under GM license, which might explain why I hadn’t found one before. The licence must have expire since then, because you can find other models on the internet now (in lesser quality though)

The C2 was very modern in it’s design compared to the C1 which was maybe a bit more conservative. The C1 to C2 transition had probably the most notable changes.

I was about to say that it looked like an autoart, based on flocked carpetting, and interior- and engine detailing.

Yeah that’s exacty what I’m talking about! The evolution is clear to see from C2 to C7, but C1 sticks out, in that respect.

Very cool, it looks high end. Also, come to the dark side, we have diecasts.

Yeah, why not, I don’t have a lot of models though, and this is the only one with a story. But I could shoot the rest I have

It is really one of the best models I’ve seen.
I might just do that :)
